Basic information about the aim and objectives of Organisation

Mission Statement :

Veterans for America (VFA) encourages the American public to support of policies that address the needs of those currently in the military, our veterans, victims of war overseas, as well as initiatives to make our world more secure. VFA builds on the 26-year history of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation—cofounder and coordinator of the Nobel Prize-winning Campaign to Ban Landmines.

There is a social contract between a nation and those it sends to war.

America’s social contract is broken.

VFA is working to repair this broken social contract.

Our Work Addresses Three Areas:

Before War. VFA works to address the causes of war by encouraging Congress to fully exercise its constitutionally-mandated role in the use of force decisions. VFA also works to ensure decision-makers have sound information before use of force decisions are made.

During War. VFA works to address the conduct of war in several ways. VFA advocates for service-members by working to enact policies that address the needs of our overstretched military.

After War. This includes working to enact policies addressing the readjustment needs of service members. VFA also conducts humanitarian relief operations in countries around the globe where populations are impacted by war.

Objectives :

VFA’s newest project, The W Campaign, will work to bridge the gap between our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Veterans, Congress and the American public. War: Who is the enemy? What is the objective? Where will we go next? Who will serve? What do we own those who have served? Who makes these decisions? Through debate, legislation and policy, the campaign seeks to create accountability, diminish ambiguity and encourage widespread public and political engagement in laws and policies that require the greatest sacrifice from our citizens.
