Basic information about the aim and objectives of Organisation

Mission Statement :

The International Peacebuilding Alliance, Interpeace, works only with local partners in divided societies to build lasting peace.

Our teams promote national dialogue by bringing together key actors across a broad cross section of society to analyse their country’s problems, find home-grown solutions and to define a common vision for long-term development.

Interpeace has a hybrid status as a Swiss association

At an IRDP meeting genocide survivors discuss the violence in Kaduha, Kibuye Province
and acts as a link between local and national actors and the international community.

It works in close partnership with the United Nations and this relationship is formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding and is carried out operationally through the UN Development Programme/Interpeace Joint Programme Unit (JPU)

This unique identity enables us to act either as an independent non-governmental organisation or as a UN initiative.

Objectives :

The International Peacebuilding Alliance (Interpeace) is dedicated to building lasting peace by reinforcing the capacities of societies to overcome deep divisions and to address conflict in non-violent ways.

We are rooted in local realities, drawing strength from an alliance of national teams with a long-term commitment to building peace in their own societies.

We believe in the wisdom of listening, the power of participation and the strength of informed dialogue to build understanding and trust – the foundations of peacebuilding.
