Experience: Master’s Degree from Columbia University (New York) and PhD from Zurich University. Former Ambassador of Switzerland to the United Nations (1999 - 2005), worked with UNFPA and UNDP in New York, Laos, China (1982 – 1990), with the Swiss Federal Office for Foreign Economic Affairs and Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco) ( http://www.seco.admin.ch ) responsible for Financial Co-operation with major Asian countries, including India and China and subsequently with Central and Eastern Europe, incl. instrumental in organizing the Luzern Conference "Environment for Europe” (1990 - 1995). Economic and Financial Counsellor, Swiss Mission to the EU, Brussels (1995 – 1999).

Ambassador and Special Representative of the Swiss Government (“Delegué du Conseil Fédéral Suisse”) for hosting and organizing the World Summit on Social Development (Geneva 2000) (http://www.un.org/esa/socdev/geneva2000/) and the World Summit on the Information Society 2003 ( http://web.archive.org/web/20040403164916/www.wsisgeneva2003.org/home.html) and Swiss Ambassador to the World Summit on the Information Society in Tunis 2005.

Convenor on behalf of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco) of the first UN Global Compact (http://www.unglobalcompact.org) Meeting in Switzerland in 2002: The UN Global Compact and Swiss Business: Making Global Responsibility Work for Business and Development, Palais des Nations, Geneva (http://r0.unctad.org/gcandswissbusiness). Member of former UN ICT Task Force (http://www.unicttaskforce.org) and UN Task Force on Financial Mechanisms for ICT for Development. Former President of Wisekey Switzerland SA, Geneva (2006 to 2007), a cybersecurity company.
