Crisis Management Initiative has published the first issue 2008 of "Peace IT! Using ICTs to prevent, manage and resolve crises". The journal aims to further the debate on how to advance the professionalism in preventing, managing and resolving crisis through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). In this issue, there is an update on the recent developments of the ICT4Peace, an article about International Agency for Source Country Information (IASCI) on the importance of accurate data and information in post disaster and post conflict situations, and a feature of the fifth ISCRAM (Information Systems for Crisis Response and Management) conference held in May. Furthermore, there is an article on Human Rights Monitoring, Reporting and Advocacy platform, a solution created by InfoShare to support the work of two Sri Lankan human rights NGOs. Also incident tracking system Ushahidi set up in Kenya after the disturbances following the presidential elections as well as the recent unveil of UNHRC and Google cooperation in supporting humanitarian operations are presented. |
